School Supply Drive

About

We help coordinate the collection of school supply donations so families with students in need can start off the school year with the supplies they need to succeed.

How to Participate in the 2023 School Supply Drive

July means “Get ready for back to school”!!

This year things are beginning to look like the normal we were used to.

As we prepare for going back to school during the hot days of summer, shopping and donating school supplies will be super cool way to help.

One thing that remains the same is children are still in need of school supplies!

We greatly appreciate your generous heart in helping get the school year off to a fantastic start.

The Mercy Ministry could use your help in collecting needed supplies.

There will be 3 different ways to donate this year:

  1. You may drop off your purchased items to the school bus cart at the Mercy Ministry building starting Wednesday, July 27th. Additional school bus carts will be outside the church doors the weekend of July 30th and July 31st. All school supplies, including prepackage school supplies, are welcome. Items Needed: Colors, Dry Erase Markers, Highlighters, Sidewalk Chalk, Composition Notebooks, Plastic Cover Folders, Binders, Plastic Sleeves, Pencils, Pens, Scissors, Glue, Jumbo Glue Sticks, Kleenex, and Art Supplies
  2. Donate Online with PushPay
  3. You may purchase items online through Amazon and have them shipped to Prince of Peace Mercy Center, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, TX 77070.
This method of shopping and donating really worked well last year.

July 2023 Volunteer Information

Volunteer help is on Fellowship Sonday, July 17th to staff the Back-to-School Project table and help spread the word about the school supply drive.

Volunteers are also needed during the scheduled donation collection weekend (July 30th & July 31st) before and after all Masses.

This is the perfect project for families to serve together.

Who Can Serve

All are encouraged to volunteer and donate. Families are welcomed to volunteer to staff the “donation school buses” the weekend of the school supply drive after any weekend Mass, which is typically the last weekend of July.

What Volunteers Do

Donate school supplies and ask for donations from parishioners and supporters.

Collect supplies at Sunday Masses during the last weekend of July.

When We Serve

The leadership team meets in the spring and early summer.

Volunteers help spread the word of School Supply Drive and ways to donate on the 3rd Sunday in July at Fellowship Sonday before and after each Mass.

Volunteers help collect school supplies the last weekend of July.

Volunteers help with delivery of supplies to schools and other designated agencies benefiting from our drive.

The first three days after the school supply collection, volunteers are needed to help sort the items into boxes and prepare them for delivery.

Why You Should Serve

Through the parish School Supply Drive, you would provide God’s compassion and care for students who cannot afford school supplies and need help to succeed.

By sharing your time and donations, you play an important part in assisting families and teachers to help students focus their attention on learning instead of worrying about the need for school supplies.

Required Safe Environment Training

If you are 18 years old and above, our archdiocese requires all adult volunteers to complete safe environment training.

This short one-hour online training teaches people how to create a secure and protected environment for everyone, especially children, by recognizing and preventing potential risks or harm.
